He Suffered The Cross For Us!

He Suffered The Cross For Us!

1 Corinthians 1:18

[18]For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Matthew 27:22-54

[22]Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

[23]And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

[24]When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.

[25]Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

[26]Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

[27]Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.

[28]And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.

[29]And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

[30]And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.

[31]And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

[32]And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.

[33]And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,

[34]They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

[35]And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

[36]And sitting down they watched him there;

[37]And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

[38]Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.

[39]And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,

[40]And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

[41]Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

[42]He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

[43]He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

[44]The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

[45]Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

[46]And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

[47]Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.

[48]And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.

[49]The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.

[50] Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

[51]And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

[52]And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

[53]And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

[54]Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

Galatians 6:14

[14]But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Ephesians 2:15-16

[15]Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

[16]And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Philippians 2:5-11

[5]Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

[6]Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

[7]But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

[8]And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

[9]Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

[10]That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

[11]And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Colossians 1:13-22

[13]Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

[14]In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

[15]Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

[16]For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

[17]And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

[18]And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

[19]For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

[20]And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

[21]And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled [22]In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

Colossians 2:8-15

[8]Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

[9]For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

[10]And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

[11]In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

[12]Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

[13]And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

[14]Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

[15]And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Hebrews 12:2-4

[2]Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

[3]For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

[4]Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Matthew 20:17-19

[17]And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,

[18]Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,

[19]And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.
